M/F Jantar Unity in Szczecin. New Giant on Baltic Sea

The maritime world recently turned its eyes toward Szczecin for a truly historic event. On Saturday, January 17, 2026, the shores of the Oder River near the iconic Wały Chrobrego witnessed the ceremonial christening of the M/F Jantar Unity—the newest flagship of the Polish ferry fleet.

At Alfa Marine OnBoard, we are always thrilled to see such monumental advancements in vessel design and regional shipping. The arrival of Jantar Unity isn’t just a win for logistics; it’s a showcase of modern maritime engineering and sophisticated design.

A Giant at the Bulwary Chrobrego

The nearly 200-meter-long ferry made a grand entrance in Szczecin after sailing from Świnoujście. Adorned with the bold “POLSCA” branding—symbolizing the deepening bridge between Poland and Scandinavia—the vessel represents a unified future for Polish Baltic operators under the Unity Line and Polferries alliance.

Technical Excellence & Sustainability

Built by the renowned Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa, M/F Jantar Unity is setting new standards for eco-friendly transit on the Świnoujście – Trelleborg route. Key features include:

  • Hybrid Propulsion: Powered by four LNG engines supported by a battery system.
  • Precision Maneuverability: Equipped with two azimuthal thrusters and two bow thrusters, replacing traditional propellers.
  • Impressive Capacity: With a 4,100-meter cargo line, it can transport nearly 200 trailers, alongside 400 passengers and a crew of 50.

Where Engineering Meets Comfort

While the technical specs are impressive, the passenger experience is where a vessel truly comes to life. As the most modern ferry on the Baltic Sea, the Jantar Unity emphasizes the importance of high-quality space management and interior finish—areas where we at Alfa Marine OnBoard feel right at home.

As specialists in Marine Interiors, we understand that the longevity and comfort of a vessel depend on the quality of its internal environment. From durable flooring to ergonomic cabin layouts and public spaces, the interior is the heart of the passenger experience.

Following the ceremony, the residents of Szczecin had the unique opportunity to tour the ship on Sunday, January 18. Seeing the scale and the modern finish of the Jantar Unity up close serves as an inspiration for the entire maritime industry.

We look forward to seeing the M/F Jantar Unity become a permanent fixture of the Baltic horizon, connecting Poland and Sweden with style and efficiency.
